Q2 Awareness post

Claire Tabouret is a French born painter who now works out of LA. She went to school at École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts which is a School in Paris. She has had alot of success with galleries, being represented by the Almine Rech gallery in Paris, and the Night Gallery in LA. Self-Portrait (Blue)

I really like the way she lets the underpainting do a lot of the work here. Also the bright orange she uses is very captivating but not in an obnoxious way. Another reaction I have is that the composition fits very well with the style, they both have a flow to them. I kinda wish she used more colors, I think in the shadows some blues or purples could have made the painting feel more complete. Though I don't mind the unfinished-ness of it.

Im really drawn to how she uses color here, the use of the gas esc greens evoke a lot of tense emotions. The use of color is definitely effective but I'm not sure If I like the colors, honestly the neon greens on the sleeve are really bugging me. I like how the colors on the face contrast the rest of the painting. In addition to the colors I think the pose is very interesting and It fits well with the vibe of the rest of the painting.
