My plan from the last post didn't work at all. I got to a point where I was just aimlessly painting, waiting for it to come together, not actually making it come together. I decided it would best to restart and follow the reference painting, In front of the Mirror more closely. I made a mistake that I commonly make with this painting which is that I jump the gun and skip out on all of the boring preparation which facilitates the paintings success. With this project I choose to paint smaller so I could work through paintings faster to get a better sense of what it is I am actually trying to do with the work. I really like the gestural nature of the sketch on the left and I want to experiment more with stuff like that. With this painting I want to focus on a really cohesive composition in terms of color. My most recent two projects (project 6/7 and home project 2) have been some of the most transformative projects for me. I have pushed my self a lot with these two projects, I have took on increasingly ambitions composition and larger and larger paintings. Through pushing my self I think I have improved a lot.
