For my art related Career Blog post I selected the position of Museum curator. The main role of a curator is to plan future exhibitions. The curator is tasked with selecting the artists, or if the show is one that covers a previous art they often select various artists that represent that period. Not only do curator have to select works but they also have to make sure that the exhibitions are consistent so the Museums function. Additionally curators have to keep detailed records of the Museums work and plan events other than exhibitions. To be a curator you have to have vast knowledge of interior design and art movements, you also need to have a sense of how to organize and exhibition and make in an experience. Some areas of study that are important to become a museum curator are art history, museum studies, and conservation. A school that I have not only been interested but also has a great program for art and art history is NYU.
